Over the past year,ASPECT version 2.5.0 has been well used on my desktop computer，but now I need to update to the new version.However，this is my first time installing it.So I have a few questions before updating to version 3.1.0-pre ：
1.Can ASPECT 3.1.0-pre be compatible and safely used on Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS operating system as version 2.5.0?
2.Will the updated version overwrite the old one, or rendering it unusable?
I would be most grateful for your reply and advice!

@Trump_Chow At least in principle, I don’t see any reason why ASPECT 3.1 will not run on Ubuntu 20.06. The principle difficulty I could foresee is that you will be using a pretty old compiler, and you may not be able to compile a sufficiently new version of deal.II with that compiler – though I don’t know for sure, you might just have to try.
Whether you will overwrite the old installation will depend on how exactly you install ASPECT. You can certainly install it in a different directory.
