Dear CIG Colleagues,
At Utrecht University we seek a PhD candidate and a postdoctoral researcher for up to 4 years to model and image earthquake systems in subduction zones. So are you - or do you know any one - excited to understand and image earthquakes? Please inform them of the vacancy " Postdoc & PhD: Forward and Inverse Modelling of the Earthquake Subduction System" on Utrecht Universities website until April 16.
They would merge unprecedented amounts of data and physics through High-Performance Computing to improve inferences of future earthquake locations, sizes, and maybe even timing. Significant advances will come from integrating much more satellite observations (e.g., horizontal and vertical velocities from before, during and after earthquakes) and novel system-based physics integrating tectonic plates, faults and a mantle in one system.
Working conditions and research environment in the Netherlands are excellent. For any questions, please contact me.
Thank you for your time,
Ylona van Dinther | Associate Professor | Department of Earth Sciences | Utrecht University
