Some questions about gridding using gmsh

Hello. When I try to simulate a curved surface, the mesh doesn’t seem to fit very well. What is the reason for this problem, do I need to add more interpolation points?

From the images it is difficult to identify what the geometry looks like compared to the discretization. I recommend that you examine the 2D mesh on the surface in question. You can use the visibility settings to select the desired surface.

There are two things to consider when considering the level of detail of the geometry and the discretization size:

  1. Specifying sufficient level of detail in creating the geometry so that it matches what you want.
  2. Specifying a discretization size to match the geometry at an appropriate level of detail given all of the other modeling parameters. For example, if you only have a few geodetic observations tens of kilometers from a fault, it would not make sense to model the fault geometry at a scale of tens of meters- the observations would not be sensitive to the that level of detail.
