Graduate Student Opportunity in Earthquake and Tectonic Processes at Lehigh University

The research group of Bar Oryan in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Lehigh University (Bethlehem, PA) is seeking a graduate student to study earthquake and tectonic processes using numerical modeling, geodetic observations, and quantitative geomorphology.

Potential projects include:

  • investigating the relationship between interseismic fault coupling and earthquake rupture,
  • understanding earthquake-cycle behavior and fault mechanics using seismic-cycle simulations and neural networks, and
  • using landscape inversion to understand long-term tectonic deformation.

Students with backgrounds in geophysics, geology, physics, computer science and related fields are encouraged to apply. Interested students should contact Bar at bar.oryan at lehigh.edu with a CV and a brief statement of research interests.

Students are also encouraged to join Lehigh EES’s virtual graduate recruitment event on October 28; register here.
