The USGS Earthquake Science Center Pasadena office is hiring a Network Engineer for the Southern California Seismic Network

United States Geological Survey (USGS) is seeking motivated candidates for a Network Engineer for the Southern California Seismic Network (SCSN).

SCSN, one of the largest regional seismic networks in the world, has over 400 stations that measure ground shaking from earthquakes. SCSN provides reliable, accurate, authoritative earthquake information to emergency personnel, businesses, scientists, and the public.

The incumbent in this operational position will design, install, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot the SCSN wide area network to achieve rapid, reliable, secure communications between field stations and central processing computers, using a variety of technologies: microwave, cellular, wireless, satellite, radio, T1, MPLS, and more.

This position is being offered in Pasadena, CA. Openings for this full-time, permanent position are being advertised as an IT Specialist (Network) (2210) at the GS-11/12/13 level.
