Please see the following posting, forwarded from Mickey Cassar (Pacific Northwest Seismic Network):

Network Manager – Pacific Northwest Seismic Network

The Pacific Northwest Seismic Network (pnsn.org) at the University of Washington invites

applications for the position of Network Manager (Senior Research Scientist). PNSN is the

nation’s state of the art regional seismic network for the states of Oregon and Washington and

operates as part of the ANSS (Advanced National Seismic System) in partnership with the U.S.

Geological Survey and others. PNSN is jointly operated by the Universities of Washington and

Oregon, and is based at the UW Department of Earth and Space Sciences in Seattle.

Responsibilities will include: direct oversight of all ongoing operations of the network, including

the continuous monitoring and reporting of seismic activity via a network of more than 300

geophysical sensor stations throughout the region and data telemetry and data management

systems; the analysis of seismic phenomena both as routine operation and research, and for

interactions with local, state, federal, and international entities and the public; the further

development of new earthquake early warning systems through our role as a key partner in the

operation of ShakeAlert; and hiring and supervision of the network staff, currently numbering 22.

The ideal candidate will be poised to continuously improve the network and its products, staying

abreast of and implementing novel algorithms and technologies relevant to achieving our

mission. The Network Manager will also enjoy the opportunity to pursue innovative research,

and to serve as Principal Investigator or co-PI on both operational and research funding awards,

as well as supervise graduate and undergraduate research students and postdoctoral scientists.

The Department of Earth and Space Sciences is a vibrant and active research and learning

community with particular strength in geophysics, surface processes, tectonics, glaciology, and
