I have created my mesh in CUBIT.
The next step should be creating pylithapp.cfg and then the example.cfg. Correct?
Step1-creating mesh
Step2-pylithapp.cfg
Step3-example.cfg
Right?

In general, you will find it easiest to use .cfg files from the examples as templates so that you are not creating them completely from scratch. In addition, it is likely that you will need one or more spatial database files, depending on your problem. These may also be created by using an example file as a template.
