Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Geodynamics at Texas A&M

The Department of Geology and Geophysics at Texas A&M University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in AI-driven geodynamics. The postdoctoral scholar will work primarily with Prof. Qian Yuan to combine cutting-edge machine learning algorithms—both data-driven and physics-informed—with mantle convection modeling to better understand planetary evolution and habitability. The position is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension up to three years.

Candidates with backgrounds in geodynamics, Earth and planetary sciences, applied and computational mathematics, physics, or engineering are encouraged to apply. Prior experience with neural operators or physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) in computational fluid dynamics is a plus. The postdoc will join a growing, multidisciplinary team and will have opportunities to mentor graduate and undergraduate students. They will also benefit from major AI activities at the university, including the Research in Artificial Intelligence for Science and Engineering (RAISE) Initiative. Texas A&M has recently acquired an NVIDIA DGX SuperPOD with DGX H200 systems (a $45 million investment), making it one of the highest-performance AI supercomputers at any North American university.
