Dear Colleagues,
We are pleased to announce our session "From mantle to mountains: understanding interactions between deep Earth and surface processes from geologic data and modeling" at GSA Connects 2026 in Denver, CO, and invite you to submit your abstract.
This session aims to foster dialogue between observational and modeling communities to advance understanding of coupled deep-Earth and surface processes through new frameworks for interpreting stratigraphic, structural, geo-thermochronologic, and geophysical records within fully integrated geodynamic systems. We welcome talks and posters focusing on the interactions between mantle dynamics, tectonics, climate, and biodiversity, and application of those studies to the understanding of subduction, collision, rifting systems, and others.
We will have Dr. Becky Flowers (UCBoulder) and Dr. Kurt Sundell (Idaho State University) as invited speakers! We are excited to gather together and share new innovative works in the field.
Sincerely,
Veleda Muller | University of Alaska Fairbanks, Chelsea Mackman-Lofland | University of Tennessee Knoxville, Alex Tye | University of Pittsburgh, Mitchell McMillan | Georgia Tech
