[CIG-ALL] CIG: Advancing our Understand of Earth Dynamics in CIG IV - Call for contributions and preregistration

Dear Community:

Preregistration is now open for the 2020 CIG Community Workshop: Advancing Our Understanding of Earth Dynamics in CIG IV. The workshop will be held over 3 days, Tuesday-Thursday, 13-15 October 2020. We anticipate starting in the morning hours Pacific Daylight Time and meeting virtually for ~4 hours each day. This virtual workshop is the latest in a series of planning activities leading up to CIG IV, and aims to bring together the geophysics community to address the science that drives computational geophysics and the development of state-of-the-art software.

You must preregister to attend [preregister]. A zoom link to complete the registration process will be sent to pre-registrants in mid-September. Upon final registration, attendees will receive a unique meeting login valid for the entire 3 day workshop.

Please note the following guidelines and deadlines for contributing presentations to the meeting. We are asking for community contributions for 2 different type of talks:

  • Idea Talks. Idea Talks should answer the question, “What would I like CIG to do in CIG IV?”. Contributions should be in the form of a short abstract (<1 page) that describes the challenge addressed and proposed approach. Idea Talks will be presented during the plenary sessions.   • Poster Talks. Poster Talks are posters and a 5 minute pre-recorded presentations on science, technology, infrastructure, and outreach. These will be posted on figshare. Presenters will have the opportunity to sign up for a time slot for Question and Answer sessions scheduled for before and after the formal program of each day. DEADLINE: 4 October 2020.
