AGU 2023 Session: T001 - Analogue and numerical modeling of continental rifting processes

Hello Everyone,

We would like to bring to your attention the “T001 - Analogue and numerical modeling of continental rifting processes” session at the upcoming AGU 2023.

This session is dedicated to exploring the intricate processes of continental rifting, from its inception to seafloor spreading, using analogue or numerical modeling. We welcome submissions that shed light on the time-dependent evolution of various processes and their feedbacks, including tectonics, surface processes, and volcanism. This session provides an opportunity to showcase research focused on rift kinematics and plate motion, mantle flow and dynamic topography, magma migration, the role of pre-existing structures, climate-tectonic interaction, nature resources, and the transition to seafloor spreading. We seek innovative and multi-disciplinary approaches in numerical and analogue modeling, linking to for example landscape evolution, seismology, and geodesy. Presentations that bridge the temporal and spatial scales associated with rifting in 3D for active rifts, passive margins, and failed rift arms will be particularly welcomed.

The abstract submission deadline is set for 2nd Aug 2023.

We look forward to receiving your contributions and do not hesitate to contact us for further information and feel free to re-distribute this invitation to interested colleagues. We look forward to seeing you at AGU!
