Dynamic rupture

Excuse me, I am doing dynamic rupture simulations and got this very poor result. Under what circumstances would this kind of point‑like pattern appear?

I don’t recall seeing this type of result before. I recommend

  1. Check ALL of the info files to verify the material properties and initial conditions are what you expect.
  2. Plot the slip and traction changes at the hypocenter to verify they follow the friction model and parameters you specified. Repeat this verification for other points as well.
  3. Examine the slip distribution first few time steps to see if it makes sense. If it does not make sense, then try reducing the time step and repeating the process.
