2026 CIG Summer Events
Do not forget to include CIG in your summer workshop plans. Registration is open for the following events. [calendar]
2026 Crustal Deformation Workshop, June 8-12, Colorado School of Mines
This workshop will focus on computational models addressing crustal deformation in the following areas:
- Constraining long-term fault slip rates and their uncertainties using geodetic and geologic data;
- Bayesian inversion of geodetic data for fault slip; and
- Interaction of fluids and faulting.
This workshop begins with 2 days of tutorials for users of the computational modeling software PyLith - an open-source, community code for modeling crustal deformation with a focus on earthquake faulting, followed by 3 days of science talks, discussions, and informal tutorials and collaboration.
Register early. Applicants will be waitlisted when full. Registration closes April 20. [more info]
2026 Rayleigh Hackathon, July 11-18, Fraser, Colorado
Rayleigh is designed for the study of MHD turbulence and convection in spherical geometry using a pseudo-spectral approach. The majority of the time will be spent working on the code in an informal setting, individually or in small groups. Applications close May 15. [more info]
2026 ASPECT Hackathon, July 20-30, Liensfeld, Germany
To further the development of the mantle convection code ASPECT and its user community, current users and developers of ASPECT will be working side-by-side over an approximately 10-day period. Application closes April 31. [more info]
