# EarthArXiv - Preprints for Earth Science

For those of you interested in open science, I wanted to highlight EarthArXiv ([https://eartharxiv.org/](https://eartharxiv.org/)) and a recent a recent article tracking its usage since inception in Fall 2017.

A few stats:

- The most common category submitted to are: Geology (136), Geophysics and Seismology (118), Geomorphology (86), Tectonics and Structure (80), and Sedimentology (79).
- The most common journals published in are here: [https://github.com/ebgoldstein/BAtools/blob/master/EarthArXiv/Top\_Journals.csv](https://github.com/ebgoldstein/BAtools/blob/master/EarthArXiv/Top_Journals.csv)  
with AGU journals accounting for 20% and GJI topping the list.

Interestingly enough, this mirrors where CIG related papers are published.
